Local bus services

This page gives current information at 26th June 2011, however bus services and times may change during the year. Please consult Traveline, Transport Direct, or the bus company web sites for the latest details.

There are several bus services that pass within walking distance of the Campbell Room. Please note that:

• These routes use smaller buses with limited capacity, so larger groups should be prepared to send some people by taxi if necessary.

• If your group is travelling from home to the Campbell Room by public transport, we recommend that you hire a taxi to transport your luggage from Bridgwater or Taunton, even if most people take the bus. This will maximise space on the bus (which will have limited space for luggage) and reduce the amount you have to carry between the bus stop and the Campbell Room (see below). A 7-seat taxi costs about £20 to 30 each way; a regular taxi costs less.
   

Bus stops near the Campbell Room

Depending on the bus service, you will need to use one of these bus stops:

• Aley, Water Lane, near the turning to Quantock Lodge, 100m away to the east

• Over Stowey church, 400m by public footpath (recommended), or 500m by road

• Nether Stowey, Castle Street, 1.2 miles (1.9km) by public footpath (recommended), or 1.3 miles (2.1km) by road

Route 18 lists ‘Marsh Mills’ on the timetable, but also stops at Over Stowey church (on a quieter road) and, either before or after it turns around and heads back to Bridgwater, also stops at the Aley bus stop.
 

Bridgwater and Taunton

Bridgwater and Taunton are the local transport hubs for connecting services. In Bridgwater, most buses go to Bridgwater Bus Station, but not Bridgwater Railway Station; they are about 0.5 miles (0.8km) apart. Buses in Taunton do not necessarily stop at the bus station nor at the railway station, which are 0.7 miles (1.1km) apart. Check the timetables for details.
